Rebates
You do not require a referral to see a psychologist. Clients can self-refer by contacting us. However, a referral from your GP helps us to know that you have a support team in place.
Medicare rebates (of $87.45 per session) are available for psychological treatment by registered psychologists under the Medicare: Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. To access the Medicare rebate, you need your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician to prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan before your appointment. You may be eligible to receive a rebate for up to 20 individual and 10 group sessions per calendar year.

Rebates are also available for Autism Spectrum Assessments via Helping Children with Autism Plans completed by their paediatrician. If you are looking at accessing services from psychology and another allied health service a Chronic Disease Management Plan (formerly known as the Enhanced Primary Care Plan) can also be used for a rebate if you have a referral from your GP. The rebate using a Chronic Disease Management Plan is $52.95.

Take Time Psychology does not currently offer ‘Bulk Billing’ services. Full payment of appointment fees is required at the conclusion of each appointment. Medicare rebates can be processed through our practice management software, and Medicare will then transfer a rebate to your nominated bank account. This means you will have paid a ‘gap fee’ for your appointment.

Some private health insurance policies provide rebates for allied health services. Please contact your insurer to check if your policy contains this coverage. You will not be able to claim both a private health insurance rebate and a Medicare rebate on the same appointment.

Cancellations with 24-48 hours notice will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of your session fee. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will incur a full fee cancellation fee.

As Australians dance back and forth across the line of COVID-19 with lockdowns and personal health, so to may our therapy appointments be affected. Where you are not able to attend an appointment in person due to lockdown or COVID-19 symptoms we will move our session to telehealth or perhaps to resource or report preparation so that your therapy progress is not interrupted and to make use of your payment and scheduled time(s).
